NZHistory is a great website for finding information about New Zealanders. If we go all the way down the page we can see that the website belongs to the Ministry for Culture & Heritage, so the information is well-researched and reliable. To find a biography of Freyberg, choose the 'people' option on the homepage. From the alphabetical list this brings up select 'F'. The link to Freyberg's entry is near the bottom of the list.

To find a longer biography and some images of Freyberg we can search the Online Dictionary of New Zealand Biography, which is part of Te Ara: The Encyclopedia of New Zealand. From the homepage choose the 'biographies' option and then select 'F' from the list. To find Freyberg's entry scroll right down the list. To see the images choose the 'images and media' tab.

HOT TIP: We like sites like this because they’re reliable. You can tell because of their web address – they have either .govt or .ac, meaning they are from government or educational organisations. They’re also New Zealand sites, so relevant for us.

For more information, we can try the EPIC resources. Login and select Australia/New Zealand Reference Centre. If we use Bernard Freyberg as our keywords, we'll find some biographies and articles about him and his role in the war.

To get to the EPIC resources you will need a password from your school librarian first. Or, you can log on to between 1 and 6pm Monday to Friday, and one of the librarians can help you online. Some EPIC resources may also be available through your public library.

If you need wider information about World War One and World War Two we have a number of relevant articles on ManyAnswers.
